COVID Norms Violation: Rs 14.58 Cr Fine Collected In Odisha In 2 Months

Bhubaneswar: Odisha police have collected fines worth Rs 14.58 crore from 4.76 lakh people for violating COVID-19 guidelines since April 1, ADG (Law and Order) Yashwant Jethwa informed on Thursday.

Besides the monetary fines, 1,332 persons have also been arrested and 29,000 vehicles seized in two months.

Police also sealed 3,500 shops for violating COVID protocols while 278 cases have been registered during this period.

A total of 161 platoons of armed police force are engaged in the enforcement drive in Odisha.

Stating that the enforcement drive will be strengthened across Odisha during the upcoming Raja festival, Jethwa requested citizens to celebrate by maintaining COVID-appropriate behaviour.
