Bhubaneswar: Most parts of the north coastal districts of Odisha will receive light to moderate rainfall in the next 48 hours under the influence of cyclonic storm Bulbul, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Thursday morning.

According to an IMD bulletin, the cyclonic storm over the east-central and adjoining south-east Bay of Bengal has moved northwards with a speed of 7 kmph during the last six hours and lay centred over the east-central Bay of Bengal, about 730 km south-south-east of Paradip, 830 km south-south-east of Sagar Islands (West Bengal) and 830 km south-south-west of Khepupara (Bangladesh) on Thursday morning.

It is very likely to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm during the next 24 hours and move in the north-north-west direction towards the West Bengal and Bangladesh coasts, the IMD added.

Under its influence, there will be light to moderate rainfall at most places in the north coastal districts of Odisha on November 9 and 10 (Saturday and Sunday).

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into northwest Bay of Bengal off the Odisha and West Bengal coasts from November 8 (Friday). Those in the deep sea have been advised to return to the coast by Thursday evening.
