Bengaluru: Hitting the campaign trail in Karnataka on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on Congress and its president Rahul Gandhi.

In a reply to the Congress scion’s challenge for a 15-minute debate in Parliament, the Prime Minister dared Rahul to ‘speak in any language’ for 15 minutes about the achievements of the Congress government led by Siddaramaiah government without reading out from a piece of paper.

Rahul had earlier said he wanted to speak in Parliament for 15 minutes on several issues, and he was quite certain Modi would not be able to remain seated for long.

“I dare the Congress president to deliver a speech in Hindi, English or his mother tongue in Karnataka for 15 minutes, without reading out from a piece of paper, on the achievements of the party government,” the Prime Minister said in his address.

Taking a jibe at Rahul he said, “His speaking for 15 minutes will itself be a big thing. And when I hear that I would not be able to sit, I think…wow, what a scene it is? Congress president, Sir, we cannot sit before you. You are ‘naamdar’ (famous), while I am ‘kaamdar’ (ordinary worker). We have no status to sit in front of you.”

Modi is expected to address over 15 election rallies in the next few days.

He sounded confident of BJP’s victory in the state and said Karnataka will not see a ‘BJP wave’ but a ‘storm.’

“The news says that there is a BJP wave in Karnataka. The reality is, it’s not a wave, it’s a storm in Karnataka,” he said in an election rally in Chamarajnagar district.

“BS Yeddyruppa is the hope of the people of Karnataka and he is going to be the next chief minister of the state,” he added.
