Dawn-To-Dusk Bandh Disrupts Normalcy In Indravati Town
Nabarangpur: Normal life came to a grinding halt in Indravati town as shops and business establishments were closed and traffic was off the road owing to a 12-hour bandh called by district unit of the Congress party on Saturday. The bandh call was given to protest the district administration’s negligence towards the town dwellers.
Most of the educational institutions and offices also remained shut in response to the strike.
The agitators staged demonstrations and road blockades at various places demanding justice to Khatiguda displaced farmers of Budi area.
“The district administration should ensure that no farmer is deprived of his/her rights. The poor displaced famers affected by Indravati hydro-electric project should be rehabilitated at the earliest, failing which the protests will be intensified in the days to come”, one of the agitators said.
