Angul: Senior BJP leader Minaketan Amant, who had twice contested unsuccessfully from Angul assembly seat, resigned from primary membership of the party on Monday.
Alleging negligence and injustice towards him, he tendered his resignation to BJP’s state president Basanta Panda.
“I am deeply hurt over party’s decision for not giving me ticket for which I am resigning from party’s primary membership as well as Angul state working member,” he wrote in the resignation letter.
He alleged that the party ignored his decades-long dedication and hard work. He was not only denied ticket but also not consulted in selection of candidates, he added.
Amant had lost 2009 and 2014 elections from Angul assembly constituency on BJP ticket.
