DGP Discusses Anti-Maoist Strategy With Koraput Police
Koraput: Director General of Police (DGP) Dr RP Sharma on Tuesday discussed the anti-Maoist strategy with the SP and other senior police officials of Koraput district.
After his arrival at the district headquarters here, Sharma had a meeting with the SP and other senior officials at the SP office here.
During the meeting, the DGP laid emphasis on strengthening local intelligence network.
ADG (Operation), DIG S Saini and Director (Intelligence) were present at the meeting.
Talking to media persons after the meeting, he said the recent encounter in Narayanpatna in which four women Maoists were killed, is a major success of the Odisha Police.
“I must say that the encounter against the Maoists that took place in the night on March 25 and in the next morning in Narayanpatna is not only a major success for the Koraput police but also for the entire State Police. The police has successfully carried out its operation against the Red Rebels. It will boost the morale of the Koraput police to successfully carry out its operation in the coming days,” Sharma said.
The DGP further said that efforts are on for better coordination between the Central Armed Police Force and the Odisha Police to effectively deal with the left wing ultras.
“This apart, efforts are on for re-deployment of BSF personnel in the cut-off areas of Malkangiri district,” he pointed out.
