Cuttack: DGP Dr RP Sharma reviewed the poll preparedness for the fourth and final phase of the election with the CP, Range IsGP/ DIsGP, Cuttack DCP and District SPs of eight districts at State Police Headquarters through video conferencing on Thursday. The final phase will be held on April 29.
People of six Lok Sabha segments and 42 Assembly seats will exercise their franchise.
Massive arrangements have been made by the state police to make it free, fair and incident-free. Since many central political leaders including the Prime Minister and Central Ministers are frequently visiting the state for poll campaigns, special attention will be given to their safety and security during public meetings and road shows.
The DGP also asked the SPs to take care of the security of the contesting candidates. All the contesting candidates of the three major political parties shall be provided with a PSO each.
The DGP also asked the SPs to utilise the CAPF as per the guideline of the Election Commission of India. They must not be ordinarily used in places other than area domination work on sensitive booth clusters and mobile parties.
Besides, a discussion was held on manpower planning, preparation of a District Security plan, special planning for the booths that are not well-connected, preparation of a detailed communication plan and flag marching in the sensitive and critical booths etc in the meeting.
