Mumbai: Saini S Johray, a production designer associated with ‘Dhurandhar’, has been found guilty by an Internal Committee under the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act in a sexual harassment case.
Following the findings, Saini was dropped from the credits of YRF’s upcoming project ‘Akka’, drawing attention to workplace accountability and the action taken by production houses in such matters.
An FIR was filed by Chandigarh police against Saini following a woman’s complaint accusing him of sexual harassment.
According to a Mid-day report, the victim had also filed a complaint against Saini with Aditya Dhar’s B62 Studios and producer Lokesh Dhar.
The complaint reportedly reached the studio in October 2025, following which the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Committee started investigating the matter.
“The POSH committee did a thorough investigation, given the sensitivity of the matter and the production house’s no-tolerance policy towards harassment,” a source was quoted as saying by the news portal.
“It was a six-month investigation that ended around late March-April. He was found guilty on two counts — sexual molestation and tampering of evidence. The committee communicated the findings to the complainant,” the source said.
While Saini’s name reportedly remained in the OTT version of ‘Dhurandhar’, his credit was said to be absent from the ‘Raw and Undekha’ edition that premiered on the streaming platform on May 22.
The Hollywood Reporter India reported that Yash Raj Films has also chosen to remove his credit from its upcoming web series ‘Akka’. The show features Keerthy Suresh, Radhika Apte and Tanvi Azmi in prominent roles.
“Pratik Shah, the cinematographer of Akka, has been associated with the project since the start of production and has completed all remaining obligations in line with his contractual commitments. During this period, neither the production nor our internal POSH committee received any complaints against him from members of the cast or crew. However, in light of the controversy surrounding him, it is decided that he will not be credited in Akka,” a YRF spokesperson was quoted as saying.
“According to the complainant, Johray allegedly summoned her to a room at the Taj Hotel in Chandigarh, where she accused him of sexually harassing her, physically assaulting her and wrongfully confining her. She further alleged that an intoxicating substance had been mixed into her drink, causing her condition to deteriorate,” said an India Today report.
The complainant, reportedly a resident of New Delhi, filed the complaint at the Sector 17 police station on April 20. A case was registered under Sections 74, 79, 123 and 126(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
