Mumbai: Punjabi actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh’s Maharaja look at the Met Gala 2025 not only wowed fans, it also fetched him the title of Vogue’s Best Dressed Celebrity.
Diljit outshone several heavyweights including Shah Rukh Khan and Met Gala veteran Priyanka Chopra, to bag the top spot in the Vogue list among the 306 A-listers.
His regal Prabal Gurung sherwani, inspired by the legendary Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala, and styled to pay a tribute to his Punjabi heritage, was one of the highlights at Met Gala 2025.
Diljit’s look featured an Atelier Prabal Gurung cream matelassé tailored jacket, adorned with hand-embroidered rose gold floral crystal work, paired with a leopard-print silk shirt, along with sleek black leather pants.
He completed his stellar Met Gala debut look with signature tinted glasses, a jewel-studded turban with a feather, and a lion-headed kirpan.
He accessorised his royal look with a multi-layered necklace studded with gemstones, and an emerald centerpiece similar to the iconic Patiala Necklace, originally crafted by Cartier.
A Cartier watch and opulent accessories added a modern swag to Diljit’s royal elegance.
A custom-made cape, crafted by 50 artisans who worked tirelessly for four days, featuring a hand-embroidered Punjab map, and interlaced with Gurumukhi script, using rich gold thread was the most striking feature of his ensemble.
In a white traditional attire, paired with a turban, kurta, tehmat, and jewellery, Diljit looked every bit like the Maharaja of Patiala.
Among others on the Vogue’s best dressed list were S Coups in Boss, Zendaya in Louis Vuitton, Teyana Taylor in Ruth E. Carter, Rihanna in Marc Jacobs, Nicki Minaj in Thom Browne, Shakira in Prabal Gurung, Lewis Hamilton in Grace Wales Bonner, Lisa and Sabrina Carpenter, both in Louis Vuitton.
