Mumbai: Dr Cyriac Abby Philips, popularly known on social media as The Liver Doc, lashed out at actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu for spreading misinformation and promoting ‘fraud’ supplements.
The doctor took to his Instagram handle on Tuesday and slammed the actress for promoting a supplement brand that claims to contain NMN (Nicotinamide Mononucleotide).
“How science illiterate movie celebrities defraud their millions of followers by selling supplements that do not work at all,” he wrote.
“BOTTOM LINE? If you want to age better, focus on the boring things that actually work diet, exercise, sleep, avoidance of alcohol and tobacco, vaccination. Not on a molecule that can’t even clear Phase 2 -quality evidence,” he added.
He captioned his post as: “Beware of snake oil salesmen, or snake oil saleswomen. They come in various sizes and forms. Be a well-informed consumer. Progress with science and evidence. Listen to real doctors.”

Promoting the supplement, Samantha, who is also a co-founder of the brand wrote on her Instagram handle, “NAD+ declines with age, leading to lower energy, slower recovery, and reduced focus,” and claimed that “NMN can help reverse this.”
Announcing that she co-owns the brand, Samantha had written on her Instagram handle a few days back, “The results spoke for themselves. So I did not just keep taking it. I joined the mission. I became Co Founder of Gataca because I believe in what we are creating. This is not about shortcuts. It is about showing up for your future.”
“@gataca.in is not just about supplements. It is about the future of performance and longevity, backed by science, driven by purpose, and built on products that are clean, proven, and purposeful. Every product is: ✅ Third party tested ✅ Heavy metal tested ✅ Microbial tested,” she added.
This is not the first time that The Liver Doc has called out Samantha publicly. Last year, the doctor slammed the actress for advising the use of hydrogen peroxide nebulisation.
