Doyens Of Veterinary Science Felicitated At SOA In Bhubaneswar On Teachers’ Day
Bhubaneswar: Doyens of veterinary science were felicitated at a function organised by the upcoming Institute of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, proposed faculty of veterinary sciences of SOA, in Bhubaneswar on the Teachers’ Day on Monday.
The veteran professors expressed their happiness over the SOA’s decision to set up the institute as Odisha was in need of a second such facility as there was only one government-run institute in the state. A presentation on the infrastructure coming up for the institute was made at the event.
The faculty members from six research groups including Artificial Intelligence, livestock production, animal foetal stem cell biology, digital technology in veterinary science and service, in-vitro fertilisation and germplasm conservation, DNA technology and new vaccine designing made the presentation.
The dignitaries were informed about the Urban Veterinary Hospital set up by SOA which had treated around 1500 animals and birds within a few weeks. Prof Brahmadeb Patnaik, Dean of the institute, briefed the invitees. SOA Vice-Chancellor Prof Ashok Kumar Mahapatra stressed the need for quality education and development of work culture with focus on moral and ethical issues. SOA Chancellor Prof DP Ray presided over the programme.
Those who attended the function included Dr GC Mohanty, former Director of ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar; Prof BC Pattnaik, former Director, ICAR-Central Sheep and Wool Research Institute, Avikanagar; Dr RN Pattnaik, president, Odisha Veterinary Council; Dr JN Mohanty, Dr AT Rao, Dr Ghanashyam Sahoo, Dr BC Kar, Dr PK Dehury, Dr PC Samal, Dr DN Mohanty, Dr PN Mishra and Dr Sushen Kumar Panda.
