Brahmapur: With monsoon approaching, TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL) has intensified its preparation to tackle possible challenges arising from heavy rainfall, strong winds and lightning.

TPSODL has undertaken a series of proactive measures to ensure reliable and uninterrupted power supply across its operational areas during the rainy season, with special focus on strengthening emergency response systems, network resilience and consumer support mechanisms.

Given the dense forests, remote hilly regions and difficult terrains of southern Odisha, TPSODL has strengthened its emergency response systems and network infrastructure to effectively manage monsoon-related exigencies. The aims of the company are faster restoration, enhanced monitoring and improved consumer support services.

A dedicated frontline workforce comprising 5,925 personnel has been deployed across TPSODL’s six operational circles, supported by emergency vehicles. Six mobile distribution substations and two tower wagons have been positioned at strategic locations to address outages and disruptions caused by tree falls or adverse weather conditions.

TPSODL has also stocked critical emergency materials such as poles, conductors and LT AB cables at strategic levels to avoid delays during restoration work. Additionally, 25 ASKA lights and 19 DG sets have been made available in each division to facilitate uninterrupted repair and maintenance work during night hours.

As part of its network strengthening initiative, the company has installed 2,529 interposing poles.

One of the highlights of this year’s monsoon preparedness is the drone-based survey of 11kV and 33kV lines, enabling early identification of vulnerable points, particularly in remote hilly and forest regions.

Power System Control Centre (PSCC) at Brahmapur and Area Power System Control Centres (APSCCs) at Rayagada, Phulbani and Jeypore are functioning round-the-clock as they monitor 252 33/11 kV primary substations in real time through an advanced SCADA system.

Consumer service mechanisms have been strengthened with IVRS-enabled systems, SMS alerts and a dedicated missed call service (9777774699) to keep consumers informed about outages and restoration updates.

Also, TPSODL’s 24×7 call centre services through toll-free numbers 1912 and 1800-2026 are active for prompt consumer assistance and swift emergency response.

TPSODL continues to publish reliability indices such as SAIFI and SAIDI online.

A dedicated 33kV control desk has also been activated to ensure seamless coordination among departments, even in the most remote locations

“Monsoon brings unique operational challenges in Southern Odisha, especially in remote and vulnerable regions. Keeping this in mind, we have strengthened our field preparedness, emergency response systems, and network monitoring mechanisms well in advance. Our teams are working round-the-clock with advanced technologies and adequate resources to ensure faster restoration and reliable power supply for consumers throughout the season. At the same time, we urge consumers to remain alert and follow electrical safety precautions during heavy rains and storms,” TPSODL CEO Amit Kumar Garg said.

TPSODL, backed by technology-driven preparedness and a resilient workforce, is leaving no stone unturned to deliver efficient power supply throughout the monsoon season.
