Dutee Chand Joins PUMA Athletes Elite Club, To Make Rs 20-25L A Year

Bhubaneswar: India’s fastest woman Dutee Chand has signed up as the brand ambassador of PUMA. She signed the endorsement deal with the global sports brand for two years on Thursday.

With this, the 23-year-old has joined an impressive list of world class PUMA athletes, including sprint legend Usain Bolt. This is first association with a reputed brand.

“It gives me great happiness that a global brand which makes great athletic gear and supports all sports has signed me for its endorsement,” Dutee posted on her Facebook handle.

Last month, she became the the first Indian to clinch a gold medal in the World University Games by winning the women’s 100m dash in Napoli, Italy, by clocking 11.32 seconds. She holds the national record of 11.26 seconds.

“Dutee’s success is a result of a sheer display of her exceptional athletic capabilities and power on the track. Having rewritten the history of Indian sports in her explosive style, she represents everything we are as a brand,” said Managing Director PUMA India Abhishek Ganguly.

According to a report published in the Financial Express, Dutee has opened her endorsement innings with a fee of Rs 20-25 lakh per year, which is likely to vary depending on the number of days in a year that she would be engaged by a particular brand.

She will make appearances at Puma retail outlets, apart from being leveraged on social media. She will also be a part of mass media campaigns by Puma, including a women’s campaign in October where she will be a part of a medley of female sports athletes, it added.
