Elon Musk Endorses Donald Trump, Says America Needs A Red Wave

Washington: Only two weeks after declaring that he will not donate money to either Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump or Democratic candidate Joe Biden, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk on Monday did a about-turn expressing his support for the former.

“I voted 100% Dem until a few years ago. Now, I think we need a red wave or America is toast,” Musk wrote on his social media platform X.

Musk had earlier too admitted that he had voted for Biden in the 2020 election but after Tesla was barred from the president’s 2021 electric vehicle summit, he became critical of Democrats.

In November 2023, during The New York Times Dealbook Summit, Musk had clarified that he would not be voting for Biden but also added that it doesn’t mean he would back Trump. But in 2022, Musk had asked Americans to elect a Republican Congress in US midterm elections in order to counterbalance Biden’s Democrats.

According to sources, Trump and Musk along with a small group of other people in Florida reportedly met earlier in March. As the former US President is looking for new donors for political campaigning, it was being speculated that the meeting could be to ask for funds, Reuters reported.

But in an interview with CNN, Musk said Trump had not asked for any financial assistance.

According to sources, the meeting could also be for business deals as Trump has been proposing Musk to purchase his social media platform Truth Social as per a Washington Post report. The offer was made last summer and also during the recent meeting.
