Ex-BJD Leader Dama Rout To Form New Political Outfit Soon

Bhubaneswar: Former BJD leader Damodar Rout on Wednesday said that he will soon form a new regional party.
Talking to mediapersons here, he said the new party will be formed to fight against the gross misrule and corruption of the BJD government.
“A meeting will be held on this issue on November 9 and 10 after which a formal announcement would be made at a press meet on November 11 and 12. The objective of the new regional party will be to strongly oppose the ruling party which has deviated from the ideals of the legendary leader Biju Patnaik,” Dama said.
Stating that he will propose the members to name the party after Biju Patnaik at the meeting, Dama said the new party will have no alliance with any party.
The state government is against formation of a new regional party and is trying to create dissension among the leaders who are keen to join him.
Reacting to Dama’s statement, BJD spokesperson Sasmit Patra said it is not wise to count the chickens before they are hatched. “Those who are talking about the formation of a new party let them do it after which the BJD will give its opinion,” he pointed out.
Dama was expelled from the BJD by the party supremo Naveen Patnaik on September 12.
The expulsion of the veteran leader was imminent as he had put the BJD on the backfoot by raising a series of scams, including the Dankari hill loot in Jajpur district, sapling plantation in Mayurbhanj district, supply of polythene to Omfed, bungling in Cooperative Bank, Black Rose and Ramco Cement Factory before the media.
