Ex-Woman Cop Sentenced To Jail In Corruption Case In Odisha’s Sundaragrh
Sundargarh: The Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, here on Saturday convicted a former sub-inspector (SI) of police in a corruption case and sentenced her to one-year rigorous imprisonment.
According to the case, Vigilance officials had arrested Budhuni Minz, former woman SI of Mahila police station in Rourkela, for demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs 5,000 from a complainant to release the latter’s parent on bail in a police case.
After hearing the case, the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance sentenced Minz to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 1 year and pay fine of Rs 5,000. In default of payment of fine, she has to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 months. Both the sentences will run concurrently.
Damodar Majhi, former Inspector of Vigilance, Sambalpur Division investigated the case and Dharmesh Kumar Patel special public prosecutor, Vigilance, Sundargarh conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
