Expecting Less Than 90% In Board Exams, Plus II Student Of DAV School Commits ‘Suicide’ In Odisha’s Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: A Plus II student in Dhenkanal district allegedly committed suicide anticipating poor results in the Board examination.

The Class XII student of DAV Public School, NTPC, Talcher Thermal, identified as Avinash Pradhan of Barihapur village under Prajang police limits was staying with his parents in a quarters of IGIT Colony at Sarang allotted to his father who is a laboratory assistant in Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology (IGIT).

A brilliant student, Avinash was found hanging in the quarters on Wednesday. A suicide note, reportedly found in the room, stated that his parents were not responsible for his death.

In the suicide note, Avinash said though he had prepared well for the examination, he was not sure of securing 90% marks considering his performance. “I have fared well in Physics and Mathematics, but could not do good in Chemistry paper. I don’t think I can secure 90% marks. My conscience does not permit to continue with life,” said the student in the note.

On being informed, a team from Parjang police station went to the quarters and sent the body for post-mortem. They have registered a case of unnatural death and launched an investigation.
