Extended School Holidays In Odisha & Other States This Diwali

Bhubaneswar: Schools will remain shut in Odisha and several states for Diwali, and upcoming festivals starting next week.

Students in Odisha are enjoying a four-day holiday, including the weekends, with the government declaring Tuesday (October 25) as an official holiday due to the partial solar eclipse. All government offices, schools, colleges, educational institutions, revenue courts, banks and other banking institutions will remain closed on this day, an official release said on Saturday.

The states like West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu have also announced three to four days of holidays on the occasion of the festival of lights.  The Diwali vacation is being observed in Madhya Pardesh from October 22 to 27, following which the classes and exams will be commenced. While West Bengal is celebrating Kali Puja as well as  Diwali on October 24, an NDTV report said that most schools in the state will observe three to four days of holidays and will open after October 26.

Schools in Haryana will be closed in Haryana on Thursday (October 27) on the occasion of Bhai Dooj. In Tamil Nadu, October 24 and 25 have been declared holidays for celebrating Diwali. Educational institutions across Telangana, on the other hand, will observe Diwali holiday on Monday.
