Farmers To Hit The Streets In Odisha Capital From Oct 29

Bhubaneswar: Farmers under the aegis of Naba Nirman Krushak Sangathan on Monday announced its decision to hit the streets in the Odisha capital from October 29 to press for their demands.
“Lakhs of farmers from different parts of the state will gather in Bhubaneswar to put pressure on the state government to immediately fulfill their demands, including Rs 5000 pension each to 36 lakh farmers,” said Naba Nirman Krushak Sangathan convenor Akshay Kumar.
Despite repeated requests since last eight years, the government has failed to pay any heed to our genuine demands. The farmers’ community has been deprived of getting appropriate price for their produce owing to the callous attitude of the government, he added.
On July 31, the farmers’ body had gathered at Gita Bhawan in Khurda and took out a huge rally in the town seeking price, prestige and pension. Later, they had also staged a demonstration in front of the collector’s office.
