New Delhi: Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), one of the farmer unions protesting against the agriculture laws, on Friday filed a petition in Supreme Court asking for those three laws to be quashed.

The petition, filed by BKU president Bhanu Pratap Singh, claims that the legislations – passed by Parliament in September — will make farmers “vulnerable to corporate greed”, reported news agency ANI.

Thousands of farmers have been agitating against the contentious laws for the past fortnight at various points of Delhi border.

Repeated talks with the Centre have failed to break the deadlock and the farmers have threatened to intensify their stir in the next few days.

Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has reiterated that the government is ready for further discussions with farmers and urged them to end the agitation in the “interest of the common people”.

The Supreme Court has already issued notices to the government on a batch of petitions challenging the farm laws.
