Final Second Phase Polling 72% In Odisha: CEO
Bhubaneswar: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Surendra Kumar on Friday said that the final polling percentage in the second phase of Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the state was 72.56.
Briefing mediapersons at his office here in the afternoon, the CEO said there was a delay in determining the final voter turnout as polling continued at some booths till late in the evening. “After taking polling in these booths into consideration, the polling percentage in the second phase in the state stands at 72.56,” he said.
As per the breakup in the polling percentage in five Lok Sabha constituencies and 35 Assembly segments coming under them, Bargarh recorded the highest 77.73 per cent voter turnout followed by Balangir (74.33), Sundargarh (71.52) and Kandhamal (69.24) while the Aska Lok Sabha constituency recorded the lowest turnout (65.89).
The CEO further said that the number of women voters is more than the male voters. “Out of the 72.56% voters who have exercised their franchise, 73.75% women have cast their votes as against 71.44% male voters.
In the first phase polls, the women voters had outnumbered the male voters.
