Mumbai: A massive fire broke out on Monday on the set of the popular television serial Anupamaa at Goregaon Film City, causing panic among crew members and halting production.
The blaze started at around 5:00 am on Monday at the tent area behind the Marathi Bigg Boss set, where Anupamaa shooting was scheduled to begin at 7:00 am, reported Lokmat Times. The fire spread rapidly, gutting a large portion of the set and damaging equipment, props, and costumes.
On receiving the alert, the Mumbai Fire Brigade promptly deployed five fire engines along with jumbo water tankers to the site. The fire was brought under control after sustained efforts by firefighters. The incident was classified as a Level I fire, indicating the lowest category on the severity scale.
Thankfully, no casualties or injuries were reported. Crew members present at the location were evacuated safely, preventing any harm.
Preliminary reports suggest that the fire may have been caused by a short circuit, though a detailed investigation is underway to determine the exact cause.
The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has strongly condemned the incident, alleging negligence on the part of the production house and Film City authorities. The association has demanded a high-level probe and urged that a criminal case be registered against the producers, channel officials, and concerned authorities for lapses in fire safety compliance.
Shooting for Anupamaa has been temporarily suspended while the production team assesses the damage and undertakes necessary repairs.
