Five More Nabbed For Murder Of Cong Candidate Manoj Jena

Berhampur: Berhampur police on Wednesday arrested five more accused in the murder of Congress candidate from Aska, Manoj Jena.

While four of the accused were arrested from Laxmipur area in Koraput district, one was arrested from Balugan railway station. Police seized two mousers, three motorcycles and two knives used in the murder. The five accused were later brought to Berhampur for interrogation.

With this, the total number of arrests in the Manoj Jena murder case has gone up to seven.

Notably, police had arrested Ganesh Nayak and Hrushi Patra after an encounter in Golanthara area on the outskirts of Berhampur city on May 30.

Meanwhile, police have issued a lookout circular against the prime accused, Bhagaban Sahu.

The accused had allegedly attacked Jena in Lanjipalli area on the outskirts of Berhampur city on the night of May 22 while he was returning from Bhubaneswar.

The victim was admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital with gunshot and stab wounds. He was later shifted to AMRI hospital in Bhubaneswar, where he succumbed to his injuries on May 24.

Police said Jena had a rivalry with some people over liquor trade.
