Mumbai: Days after sparking controversy by calling Gen Z the “generation gutter,” actor-politician Kangana Ranaut has seemingly softened her stance.

In a fresh public appearance, Kangana praised the younger generation, calling them the “strength of our country” and urging them to uphold India’s culture and values.

During a recent media interaction, she said, “Gen Z is the strength of our country and, in a way, a great asset to our nation. We are very happy that our young people are increasingly emerging as ambassadors of our culture and its identity.”

“We have also had the opportunity to listen to Mohan Bhagwat ji, whom we hold in the highest regard, and benefit from his wisdom and experience. It is a matter of great happiness that the country’s youth are connecting with us and embracing our cultural identity,” she added.

Her latest remarks mark a clear U-turn from her earlier stance.

Earlier this week, Kangana had shared a series of videos criticising the CJP protesters over the language they allegedly used against political leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while referring to a section of Gen Z as the “generation gutter.”

“Never in my life I have seen so much ugliness in one place. These reels from Gen Z protests are puke-inducing. The way they speak and the kind of language they are using—I have never seen everything in each and every frame so jarring and so crass all at once. Ewwww, who is birthing and raising them?” Kangana had said.

She further added, “Here is a new generation of so-called westernised Indian women. I call them generation gutter.”

After videos from the NEET-related protests gained traction online, Kangana said watching them made her feel the need for “some healing” and a “digital detox.”

The remarks sparked widespread debate and drew mixed reactions across social media.

“You call yourself cockroaches and look/behave like them as well… there is no paradox or juxtaposition there, just simply subjecting the world to your filth, garbage and ugliness. I am scarred from these reels, need some healing, digital detox,” she had said.

On the work front, Kangana was last seen in ‘Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata’, directed by Manoj Tapadia.

Inspired by true events, the film chronicles the courage of the nurses and staff at Mumbai’s Cama Hospital, who risked their lives to protect patients during the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.
