Mumbai: Amid ban calls on Diljit Dosanjh’s future projects by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) and the All-Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA), reports suggest that the makers of ‘Border 2’ have replaced the Punjabi actor-singer.
Disappointed with the casting of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in ‘Sardaar Ji 3’, film bodies have been urging filmmakers, producers and actors to drop Diljit from ‘Border 2’ and other upcoming projects.
A source close to the ‘Border 2’ production team told The Times of India that the makers are mulling replacing Diljit with Ammy Virk.
“Diljit has only filmed 3-4 scenes so far. The makers are considering replacing him, as it’s still early enough to reshoot those portions without much hassle. The team is handling the situation directly, and Ammy Virk’s name has come up during internal discussions,” the source said.
However, a report in Hindustan Times says that the makers have no plans to take Diljit off the roster.
“There is no plan to replace or remove Diljit from Border 2. His casting was confirmed nearly nine months ago, long before the recent unfortunate incidents. Nearly half the film has already been shot, and any replacement at this stage would be logistically unfeasible,” HT quoted a source as saying.
The film’s producer Nidhi Dutta, Diljit and Ammy were unavailable for comment.
‘Sardaar Ji 3’ was globally released, except in India, on June 27.
