Heatwave Returns: Bhubaneswar Records 31°C By 8.30AM, Sweats In High Humidity
Bhubaneswar: The heatwave is likely to scorch Odisha again with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting a further rise in the day temperature by 2-3°C during the next 2 days.
“Consequently, the day temperature is likely to be 40°C or above at a few places over a few districts during the next 4-5 days,” SRC, Odisha, tweeted on Monday. Hot & discomfort weather is likely during this period, it added.
According to the IMD, Odisha capital had recorded 31°C by 8.30 am and a humidity of 85%. It is likely to touch 39°C this afternoon.
On Sunday, the mercury had soared to 40°C and more at 7 places in the state. Angul recorded the highest temperature of 41.7°C in the state, followed by Boudh with 41.5°C, Talcher 41°C, Jharsuguda 40.8°C, Sambalpur 40.3°C and Balangir and Sambalpur at 40°C each.
The SRC has advised people to stay indoors during peak hours and not go outside unless absolutely necessary.
