Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm activity accompanied by rain and strong winds is likely to continue in Odisha till April 22, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Friday.
The weather agency has issued orange warning for one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak districts, which are likely to experience thunderstorm with lightning, gusty surface wind speed reaching 50- 60 kmph and hailstorm with heavy rain, till 8.30 am on Saturday.
Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph may also occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada and Koraput. Thunderstorm/ lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is also likely in the afternoon/evening hours in Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Boudh, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur and Malkangiri during this period.
There is also a forecast for light to moderate rain in the afternoon/evening hours at a few places in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak and at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Boudh, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri.
Yellow warning continues for another 4 days. There will be no large change in the day temperature during this period, it added.
