Bhubaneswar: Odisha is likely to experience widespread rains in the next 2-3 days as southwest monsoon is likely to cover more parts of the state during the next 24 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Sunday.
On the other hand, the cyclonic circulation over westcentral Bay of Bengal off north coastal Andhra Pradesh coast has merged with the system over Northwest Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood. It is likely to intensify into a low-pressure area in the coming days, aiding the progress of monsoon current.
While heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in northern and western districts of Odisha on June 16-17, the weather agency has also warned of squally weather with wind speed 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph along & off Odisha coasts from June 17-19. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea along and off Odisha coast during this period.
Thunderstorm activity may continue in several parts of the state till June 17 and heavy rainfall till June 19.
The weather agency further stated that the day temperature may fall by 2-4 degree Celsius during the next 3 days across the state, with no large change thereafter.

Yellow warning of heavy rain continues for two more days – in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh and Jharsuguda on June 18; and Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Sundargarh on June 19, it added.
