Hockey Champions Trophy: Belgium Hold India To 1-1 Draw With Late Equaliser

Netherlands: An equaliser in the final moments helped Belgium secure a 1-1 draw despite India dominating its fourth match in the Champions Trophy at Breda, Netherlands, on Thursday.

Following the draw, India retained the third position.

Goalkeeper Sreejesh was rock solid saving 11 out of 12 penalty corners for India.

International Hockey Federation tweeted about the skipper’s brilliant performance.

While Belgium had a head start with players dominating the ball, India was shaky until Harmanpreet’s goal in 10th minute. Post goal, the ball remained with India for the other quarters.
There was a nasty collision at the centre between Manpreet and the umpire in the third quarter.
India played steadily until the last three minutes of the fourth quarter in which Loick Luypaert equalized for Belgium.
Here’s a complete detail on team’s performance tweeted by FIH.

India will play against the Netherlands in the next match on June 30.
