Bhubaneswar: The Hotel and Restaurant Association of Odisha (HRAO) on Monday appealed to the state government to allow reopening of the hotels in Bhubaneswar that have been closed due to the lockdown since mid-March in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak.
In a letter to the commissioner of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), HRAO chairman JK Mohanty said the Centre has allowed resumption of domestic and overseas flights for the return of the people to their home state.
As per the lockdown guidelines, people returning from foreign countries will have to stay in quarantine at home or in the hotels. Some people, who arrived in Bhubaneswar on flights on Monday, had searched for the hotels for their stay.
“As more flights are scheduled to land in the city, we have been receiving several phone calls to book rooms. Considering the arrival of more people in the coming days, we request the state government to allow reopening of the hotels in Bhubaneswar for their stay,” Mohanty said.
