The South Korean carmaker has suspended the development of new diesel engines in the latter half of 2020. Now, Hyundai will be concentrating on upgrading its existing powertrains in view of stricter regulations coming in.
Globally, the brand wants to get 10 per cent share of the EV market with its Ioniq range.
BS6 emission norms came into effect on April 1, 2020. With that, some car companies like Maruti, Volkswagen and Skoda completely discontinued diesel engines from their line-ups.
