Bengaluru: A video uploaded on Instagram by an Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot, who is also a test pilot at DRDO, has taken social media by storm. In the video, a man covered in blood, who claims to be Wing Commander Shiladitya Bose, speaks on how he was brutally assaulted by a biker for no reason. The IAF officer also claims that people arrived at the scene, but instead of berating the errant biker, accused him and his wife of rash driving.
Wing Commander Bose was on his way to arrange for treatment for his ailing father when the incident occurred. The car was being driven by his wife, a Squadron Leader in the IAF.
“We were driving from our official residence at the DRDO enclave in C V Raman Nagar. Suddenly the biker came from behind and blocked our way. When I got out to inquire, he started abusing me in Kannada. On seeing the DRDO sticker on the car windscreen, he said: “Oh, you DRDO people….” and then pulled out his bike key and struck me on the forehead,” Bose says.
There is a distinct injury mark on his forehead. The IAF pilot says that after the assault, he tried to reason with the biker.
“I told him that I am an IAF officer and whether it is right to treat soldiers in that manner after all they do for the nation. This had no effect on him. Rather, he picked up a stone and smashed it on my head,” Bose adds. He then turns his head to show blood seeping out from an injury at the back. A lot of blood has by then accumulated near his throat.
“A number of locals came to the spot. But instead of stopping the attack, they sided with the biker and accused us of something. There were many senior citizens among them. We could not understand as they were speaking in Kannada,” the pilot says.
It seems that the biker was riding in a rash manner and Bose’s wife gave him a nasty look for that. This infuriated the biker, who decided to teach the occupants of the car a lesson.
Reports of such attacks on non-Kannada speaking people have emerged from Bengaluru and elsewhere in the state over the last several months. Bose claims that he went to the police station and registered a complaint. The police, however, said that no official complaint has been registered.
