Cuttack/Bhubaneswar: IG, Central Range, Soumendra Priyadarshi will monitor investigation into BJP leader Manguli Jena’s murder, in-charge DGP Bijay Kumar Sharma said on Monday.
Sharma told mediapersons that a Crime Branch team led by an inspector had arrived in Khurda to assist police with the probe. “Efforts are on to nab the assailant,” he said.
The Central Range IG said four special police teams have been formed to trace the whereabouts of the assailant. “Besides, we have sought assistance from the cyber cell and the scientific team,” he said.
He further said that the police will provide security to BJP candidates in Khurda. “It has been decided that two policemen will be in charge of security for each candidate. If any candidate of other parties seeks protection, we will provide security,” he said.
The IG said the assailant will be arrested soon.
