Bhubaneswar: Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm may take place in some parts of Odisha during the next 24 hours due to a cyclonic circulation over Southeast Bay of Bengal, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday.
It said there will be no large change in maximum and minimum temperature in the state during the next five days.
In its mid-day bulletin, the MeT Centre said that the cyclonic circulation over southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Andaman Sea now lies over southeast Bay of Bengal and extends up to 4.5 km above mean sea level.
It is likely to move northwestwards and under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over central parts of Bay of Bengal around October 20, it said.
Light rainfall is very likely to occur at some places over the districts of north coastal Odisha, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal and Rayagada by Thursday morning. Dry weather is likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.
From Thursday to Friday, light rainfall is likely to occur at some places of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Balasore districts, it added.
