India Registers Highest Overnight Surge Of 95,735 COVID-19 Cases

New Delhi: A record addition of 95,735 cases in the last 24 hours took India’s COVID-19 tally past 44.5 lakh to 44,65,864 on Thursday.

This is the country’s highest single-day surge in COVID-19 cases. In a span of two days, India’s affected tally has increased by 2 lakh.

Besides, the Union Health Ministry informed on Thursday that 1,172 more patients had succumbed to the infection in India in the past 24 hours, taking the toll to 75,062.

At present, there are 9,19,018 active cases in the country (20.58 per cent of the total cases) and the recovery rate stands at 77.74 per cent. Altogether, 34,71,784 patients in the country have been cured so far with over 72,939 recoveries recorded in the last 24 hours.

India has conducted more than five crore total tests. According to the ICMR, a cumulative total of 5,29,34,433 samples have been tested till date, including Wednesday’s 11,29,756.
