Mumbai: Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s spy action thriller ‘Alpha’ has opened to mixed reviews from the audience and critics, with quite a few negative reactions.
Amid the buzz, several scenes from the film have leaked online, with one particular sequence featuring Alia and Sharvari in bikinis grabbing attention.
The clip, which has gone viral on X, shows the two actors emerging from a pond in swimwear.
However, instead of winning over viewers, the sequence has sparked criticism on social media.
Many users questioned YRF’s continued reliance on bikini scenes featuring its female leads, arguing that such moments feel unnecessary in an action thriller.
Others mocked the visuals by comparing the scene to a classic Nirma detergent advertisement of mid and late 1970s, turning the clip into meme material online.
One user tweeted, “Why did they put a Nirma ad inside the YRF Alpha movie?”

Another posted, “Just YRF doing YRF things – compulsory bikini scene in a spy movie.”
One person commented: “Is this how a spy movie is supposed to look? It looks more like a lesbian couple movie enjoying their honeymoon in a bikini. What’s this bikini obsession of yrf man…??”
“I knew it!! YRF doing a spy movie and no bikini scene? Impossible. They just didn’t show it in the teaser and trailer this time to fool the audience,” expressed one netizen.
“Big scam, Indian female agents in bikinis?????? How can you do that, Mr Chopra? Who gave you the authority to portray Indian RAW agents like bikini queens?” questioned one user.
Spy thriller or swimsuit calendar? A good script doesn’t need forced bikini shots for hype. Female spies should be brutal and badass, but YRF is stuck on the glamour trope. Focus on action! 🎬👎 #Alpha #AliaBhatt #Sharvari” pic.twitter.com/GqSR2cTZuR

The YRF Spy Universe has courted similar criticism in the past over the styling of its female leads.
‘War 2’ drew mixed reactions after Kiara Advani’s bikini sequence, with some social media users arguing that the glamorous portrayal did not align with her role as a spy.
Before that, ‘Pathaan’ got embroiled in a major controversy over Deepika Padukone’s orange bikini in the song Besharam Rang, which sparked boycott calls and political outrage over the outfit’s colour.
Helmed by Shiv Rawail, ‘Alpha’ is the seventh instalment in the YRF Spy Universe. The film also stars Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol in pivotal roles.
