New Delhi: Right after Ola announced what will possibly turn out be a game-changer for the electric two-wheeler market in India, another company Simple Energy launched an e-scooter ‘The One’ with 203 km of claimed range!
This is more than that of Ola’s S1 Pro which has a maximum claimed range of 181 km. The Simple Energy scooter uses a bigger 4.8 kWh battery.
Priced at ₹1.10 lakh (ex-showroom) excluding subsidies, it is around ₹20,000 cheaper than Ola S1 Pro but more expensive than the S1.
Like other electric scooters, the One has a 7.0-inch touchscreen dash with 4G, navigation, music, vehicle tracking and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
It is powered by a 4.5 kW electric motor that produces 72 Nm of torque. The lithium battery is removable and it offers 203km in Eco mode. It can be recharged from 0-80 per cent in 2.75 hours.
Like other electric scooters, it has different riding modes — Eco, Ride, Dash and Sonic — with 0-40 kmph claimed to be 2.95 seconds which is quicker than Ola S1 Pro.
Interestingly, there are two tyre choices — 90/90-2 or 100/80-12 size. The top speed is 95 kmph or 105 kmph, depending on the tyre choice.
The scooter can be booked for Rs 1,947. However, there is no word on when the scooter will be delivered. The Bengaluru-based startup is expected to start manufacturing at a facility near Hosur in Tamil Nadu.
