Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance officials on Saturday launched simultaneous searches at nine places linked to Baikuntha Nath Behera, Assistant Executive Engineer of ITDA at Baliguda in Kandhamal on allegations of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The searches are being carried out by teams led by two Additional SPs, five DSPs, six Inspectors and other supporting staff under search warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.
In Bhubaneswar, the searches are being conducted at a four-storey building at Niladri Vihar, Chandrasekharpur; a three-storey building at Kailash Vihar, Sailashree Vihar; a double-storey building at HIG-146, Kanan Vihar Phase-1, Patia; and another double-storey building at HIG-196, Chandrasekharpur, all in Bhubaneswar.
Searches are also being conducted at a double-storey building on paternal land at Pandua near Dharmasala College in Jajpur district, the houses of two relatives at Deula Sahi in Baripada town and at Pandua near Dharmasala College, and at Behera’s office chamber at the ITDA office in Baliguda and his official residence near the ITDA office in Baliguda.
Official sources said the raids are being conducted simultaneously in Bhubaneswar, Baripada, Dharmasala in Jajpur district, and Baliguda in Kandhamal district.
Searches are continuing and further details are awaited.
