New Delhi: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has set a fresh seven-day deadline for the Centre to remove Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Addressing a press conference after the Jantar Mantar protest, CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka warned that the movement will intensify across the country if the government failed to act on its demands.
CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, who led the protest after arriving from the US on Saturday morning, had given a 5 pm ultimatum earlier in the day. Once that deadline passed without any action, Ranka said CJP was now giving the Centre seven days for the removal or resignation of the Education minister.
“If he (Pradhan) has some respect for Indian democracy, he should resign respectfully, or Prime Minister Modi must remove him from office,” the spokesperson said. “Otherwise, this movement will spread across the country.”
Dipke thanked those who turned up for the protest, saying this was a trailer only.
“FYI, today’s protest was just a trailer. Thank you for showing up in such huge numbers! ❤️” the founder of the online movement wrote on X.
“Going home to see my parents, it’s been more than a year since I last met them. They’ve suffered a lot over the last 15 days and had to leave home because of threats. Will be taking them back to home,” Dipke added.
Social activist Sonam Wangchuk was among thousands of students and parents who participated in the demonstration at Jantar Mantar.
