Javed Akhtar’s Appeal To Michelle Obama: ‘Return To White House, Don’t Shrug Off Responsibility’
Mumbai: Acclaimed lyricist Javed Akhtar on Thursday appealed to former First Lady of the United States of America Michelle Obama to return to the White House, and not ‘shrug off this responsibility’.
Replying to a tweet by Michelle, Akhtar wrote: “Dear Ms Michelle Obama, I am not some young crazy fan but a 77 years old writer/poet from India.. hopefully any Indian would know my name. Madame please take my words seriously, not only US but the world needs you in White House. You shouldn’t shrug off this responsibility.”
I’m so excited to go on #TheLightWeCarry Tour with these wonderful people!

Barack Obama served as President of USA for two terms – from 2009 to 2017.
Many political analysts in the USA and elsewhere have said that Michelle – the first African-American woman to be First Lady of the United States — has the qualities to run for President. Akhtar, too, seems to believe in Michelle’s political acumen.
Michelle earlier took to Twitter to announce her ‘The Light We Carry’ tour, during which she will share her personal stories in Washington DC, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
