Two constituencies in the North-East reported 100 per cent voter turnout on April 11. One was Malogam, the one-voter polling station in Hayuliang Assembly constituency in Arunachal Pradesh.
That very day, Meghalaya’s smallest polling station, accessible only by boat, too registered 100 per cent voter turnout, reports The Hindu.
Polling officials said all 33 voters of Kamsing not only exercised their franchise but were also given a special welcome ceremony when they arrived to vote.
Kamsing is a hamlet atop an isolated hillock fringed with areca trees. One can reach the place by rowing across the Mayong river.
“All voters invariably turned up on election day. No wonder, the Election Commission of India featured Kamsing in its table calendar for the 2018 Assembly polls as well as the general elections this year,” the state’s chief electoral officer Frederick Roy Kharkongor said.
