Bhubaneswar: Noted industrialist Karan Adani and his team met Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo in Bhubaneswar on Thursday and discussed clean energy development in the state.
Officials said a bilateral meeting was held between senior state energy leadership and Karan Adani, alongside the executive team of the Adani Group, to discuss energy sector development.
The deliberations focused on accelerating the deployment of clean energy infrastructure — specifically Pumped Storage Plants (PSP), Solar Power generation, and Nuclear Power projects — to fortify long-term energy security, grid reliability, and sustainable energy development goals in the state.
The meeting was attended by the Additional Chief Secretary, Energy, Vishal Kumar Dev; Chairman and Managing Director of OPTCL, Bhaskar Jyoti Sarma; and Managing Director of GRIDCO, Satyapriya Rath, along with senior officers from the Energy Department.
It may be noted that Adani Group had earlier met the Deputy CM and expressed interest in investing in Odisha’s energy sector. In today’s meeting, they reiterated their intent to invest in Odisha’s clean energy sector, including the establishment of two power plants with a capacity of 3,000 MW each.
Recognising the requirement for continuous, carbon-free baseload power, the leadership laid special emphasis on renewable energy. Additionally, the Adani Group extended an invitation to the Deputy CM to visit their renewable energy projects located in other states.
