Know Parking Status With ‘Ama Balijatra 2.0’ App This Year; Check Other Features

Cuttack: The second version of ‘Ama Balijatra’ application will be reactivated and can be downloaded from the Google Play store on November 8.

This time, the team of 16-17 creators of this app, including software engineers Surya Narayan Barik, Dipoo Singh, and Amar Mallick, have come up with more updates for easy access to the largest open-air fair.

“We finalised four updates to our app on Saturday after a meeting was conducted in the presence of Cuttack DCP Pinak Mishra,” Surya Narayan Barik told Odisha Bytes.

Traders and businessmen will be able to register their shops by mentioning the shops and lane number along with their available products on the app from Sunday. They can also mention the discounts, which the visitors can avail while buying any product from the shop.

People can use this app to know the entry and exit points to the fair, parking areas, food stalls, and schedules of the cultural programmes being organised. They can explore the Bali Jatra through this app by checking what is trending in food and letting the world know what they love about it by posting a remark.

“A major update of this app this year is that Ama Balijatra 2.0 will be able to show the status of rush at a particular parking area. One will be able to know how many more vehicles can be parked at a spot. Besides, the traffic situation on way to Bali Jatra will also be made available on the app with direct help from the traffic control room,” said Barik.

Apart from the businessman who will install their stalls at the Bali Jatra, other brands can also post the advertisement online through this app.

“Unlike 2019, the navigation and map will be made available on the app this year as the network connection at the Bali Jatra ground has been developed by Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC),” he said.

This time ‘Ama Balijatra 2.0’ can be accessed online and it would be free for visitors to download and use. Offline storage of the app will also be made accessible to people. The map can be used to locate the shops, toilets, parking, police camps, enquiry camp, emergency contact numbers, and now with the recent update the availability of parking as well.

On being asked about the thought behind developing this app, he said “I was born and brought up in Cuttack due to which I have an emotional bonding with the city which pushed me to do something new and take it another level.”

Barik added that they have a plan for e-commerce in the future. They have also developed a QR code to scan and download the app.

It is pertinent to mention here that the team of creators began the first project in 2019 during Bali Jatra with the help of CMC and the Twin City Commisisonerate Police.
