Man Arrested For Exchanging Fake Notes Worth Rs 50,000 In RBI In Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: Police arrested seized fake currency notes worth Rs 50,000 and arrested a man in possession of those in Odisha capital on Friday.
As per reports, the man, identified as Bikas Baliarsingh of Khurda, had gone to the regional office of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) with fake notes of Rs 500 denomination. He produced the notes at a counter for exchange.
On suspecting that the notes were fake, the RBI official informed the higher officials. During verification, they confirmed that the notes were fake and informed the police.
A team from Kharvel Nagar police station went to the RBI office and arrested Bikas. They also seized 100 fake notes of Rs 500 denomination amounting to Rs 50,000 from his possession.
The police were questioning the accused to ascertain the source of the fake notes and involvement of other persons in its circulation.
