Nuapada: In a major success in the drive against left wing extremists (LWE), security forces have busted a Maoist camp in a forest in Odisha’s Nuapada district and seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition.
According to sources, the Maoist camp was busted at Patdhara near Chhattisgarh border.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Odisha’s Special Operation Group (SOG), District Voluntary Force (DVF) and CRPF launched a combing operation at the Patdhara reserve forest near Jholapada village under Sinapali police limits this morning.
On seeing the security personnel, the red rebels present at the site fled the camp leaving behind a huge quantity of arms and ammunition and explosives, a senior police official said.
The ultras managed to escape from the spot and disappeared deep into the forest. During the search, the security personnel seized huge ammunition, hand grenade, Maoist literature, uniform, radio, battery, haversack among other things.
The combing operation has been intensified in the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border area.
The ultras were stated to have gathered in the area to plan some strategies against the security forces and carry out subversive activities. Following the operation by the security personnel, their evil design has been successfully foiled.
