Maoist outfit denies role in Koraput gang rape case, calls for bandh on Monday

Koraput: Even as police are yet to identify the culprits, supposedly four men in uniform, in the Koraput minor girl gang rape case, a Maoist body denied involvement of its cadres in the incident.

Spokesperson of Andhra-Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC) of CPI (Maoist) Jagabandhu in an audio tape released to the media denied role of its men. Strongly condemning the incident, the banned outfit called for Koraput bandh on Monday in protest against the alleged atrocities of security personnel on innocent villagers.

Koraput District Congress unit too has called for a seven-hour bandh on Monday.

A Class IX girl student was allegedly gang raped by four persons suspected to be security personnel on October 10 in Sorispadar forest near Kunduli Haat under Pottangi police limits in the district. Odisha DGP tagged it as a red flag case and special teams have be formed for a thorough inquiry into the incident.

On the other hand, the health condition of the minor victim deteriorated on Thursday with her complaining of pain in the abdomen. A seven-member doctors’ team has been constituted to look into her treatment.
