Malkangiri: Maoists on Saturday released an audio tape protesting construction of National Highway in Malkangiri district.
Through the tape, CPI (Maoists) Malkangiri-Visakhapatnam division secretary Benu said, “The proposal regarding construction of the National Highway will never help in the development of tribals. It would give a boost to illegal transportation of minerals. So, we strongly oppose such move.”
On Friday, a group of ultras had torched as many as 24 vehicles engaged in road construction work at Kistaram forest near Malkangiri border to protest the death of a rebel in an exchange of fire with security personnel.
