Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange and yellow warnings for most of the districts in Odisha till 7.15 pm on Saturday.
Moderate thunderstorm accompanied by surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph, lightning and light to moderate rain may affect some parts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Cuttack, Khurda, Jajpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Angul, Boudh, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Mayurbhanj, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Koraput, Sambalpur, Kalahandi, Balangir, Bargarh, Dhenkanal and Rayagada districts within next three hours.
Under its impact, minor damage to loose / unsecured structures, banana trees and standing crops may occur. People are advised to keep a watch on the weather for worsening conditions and be ready to move to safer places accordingly.
The weather agency also issued a yellow warning for Malkangiri, Bargarh and Nuapada districts and forecast light to moderate thunderstorm with gusty wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph, lightning and light to moderate rain within next three hours.
People are advised to keep a watch on the weather for worsening conditions and be ready to move to safer places protect from lightning strike.
