Berhampur: Though she is only four years old, Jigyansa Mohanty in Berhampur can rattle off the names of Odisha districts, states in the country, sportspersons, poets, politicians, scientists, etc. without a hitch.
Owing to her extraordinary general knowledge at such a tender age, Jigyansa is now popularly referred to as the “Google Girl” of Berhampur.
Jigyansa is the daughter of one Jitendra Mohanty of Langaladei village in Kukudakhandi block in Ganjam district. But she resides with her aunt, Bishnupriya Das, in Berhampur’s First Gate locality.
It was Bishnupriya who first noticed the girl’s thirst to acquire knowledge. The aunt started by providing Jigyansa general knowledge about her village, block and district. She could easily absorb and remember all these information. She then started learning more about on Odisha as well as the country from her aunt.
Soon Bishnupriya decided to share videos of her niece’s extraordinary skill on social media. The videos went viral and people started calling her “Google Girl”.
Impressed by Jigyansa’s knowledge, Berhampur MLA Bikram Kumar Panda has promised to help her get admission in Kendriya Vidyalaya.
