Lucknow: In a throwback to Mike Tyson’s infamous biting off fellow-boxer Evander Holyfield’s ear during their heavyweight championship bout 27 years ago, a man bit off the fingers of a shopkeeper in Uttar Pradesh’s Banda district.
The dispute was over Rs 50 while purchasing a frock!
A day after a customer purchased a frock from Shivchandra Karwaria at a garments store, he returned to the shop as he wanted an exchange and needed a bigger size.
Trouble started when the shopkeeper told the customer that he would have to pay Rs 50 more for a larger size of the frock.
That annoyed the purchaser, who demanded an exchange without paying any extra money.
It led to an argument, which ultimately turned serious and violent. During the altercation, the customer bit off a finger of Karwaria’s left hand. He didn’t spare the shopkeeper’s son, and bit him as well.
Thereafter, the angry man threw out clothes from the shop to the road and threatened him before fleeing the spot.
The injured Karwaria went to the nearby police station and filed a complaint.
Suresh Saini, Station House Officer (SHO) of Kotwali Naraini, told Aaj Tak that a case had been registered based on the shopkeeper’s complaint.
Police are searching for the accused and promised legal action once he was arrested.
